Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary is around 35 kms. from Indore. People often get confused with the “Wildlife Sanctuary” and “Trekking” spot here. I recently visited this sanctuary when monsoon is already here. The Wildlife Sanctuary is closed because of rainy season. Only the Trekking spot is open, which is a small hill with exceptional views. If you are in pursuit of some great trekking spots, Ralamandal is an exciting place.

You can also book a vehicle at the ticket counter which drops you on top of a small hill. There is a red-colored building on top of this hill and I thought it to be a museum but it was closed.

Serveral trekking trails originate from this hill downwards in all directions opening a beautiful view of Indore.

If you are a trekking enthusiast, I would advise to spend a day on and near this hill. Don’t forget to carry food and water as there are no eating outlets nearby.
Keysha, my 4-year old niece, was not happy. I promised her to show animals and birds but later came to know only the trekking spot is open. Every now and than Keysha was commenting: “What type of zoo is this ? I can’t even see a bird”. With “bird” she meant Peacocks and Parrots.

It is the greenest spot of Indore and is a fantastic place to spend your weekend with the nature. I love adventure and trekking is one such activity. Once you are into it, you cannot come out of it. You lure more and more of it. It is an addiction.
